One, two, three.... Alice?.... Four, five, six.... Alice, can you hear me?.... seven eight.... Alice!
"What?" Alice blinked.
Chris was eyeing her, a worried look on his face. "Are you okay?"
Alice blinked again. Nine, ten... "Yes, I'm fine."
Chris didn't look convinced, "Are you sure?"
Alice nodded, straightening Chris's collar, "Yes, Chris. I'm okay."
Chris pursed his lips and sat down next to her, "What are you thinking about?"
Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen...
"Alice," Chris said sharply.
"What?" Alice asked.
Chris stared at her, "What's wrong?"
Alice stared back at him and didn't say anything.
Chris looked worried, but tried to change the subject. He smiled and said, "Would you like to get something to eat?"
Alice nodded, "Sure. Where?"
Chris shrugged, "How about the place where Mouse works. Leo said they have great food."
Alice nodded again, "Okay."
They got in the car and drove to Burger Wonderland; a fast food restaurant where their friend, Mouse, worked.
Alice and Chris walked up to the front doors. Alice held up a hand to stop Chris and took out her little blue box.
"Alice-" Chris started to say.
Alice took a kleenex out of the little blue box and wrapped it around the door handle to open the door without touching it.
Chris sighed and followed Alice in, watching as she tossed the tissue into a garbage can.
Alice stopped walking and looked around nervously.
Grease, grease, meat, grease, dirt, germs, grease, grease, germs, dirt, contaminated, germs, germs, food, dirt, germs....
She felt a bead of sweat slide down her forehead and she closed her eyes.
"Alice," Chris said, "What's wrong?"
Alice shook her head, "Nothing. I... I'm not really hungry."
"Should we go somewhere else?" Chris asked gently.
Alice shook her head again, "No, this is where Mouse works. You can order food here, support her."
Chris snorted, "She hates me."
Alice shrugged, "At least she has a job. I'll be fine, come on."
Chris reluctantly followed his friend to the counter and he told the cashier what he wanted.
Alice swallowed and eyed the greasy food in which people were shoveling into their mouths like greedy pigs. How could they stand that?
Alice tried not to grimace as she followed Chris to a table by the window. Before sitting down, she took out her little blue box again and wiped off the seat and the table space in front of her and Chris.
Chris gave her a look and sat down.
Alice tried not to stare in disgust as Chris took a bite of his burger.
Germs, germs, grease, germs, dirt, grease, fat, grease, blood, germs, meat, germs, dirt, food, dirt, eating, food, contaminated, food, germs, grease....
Alice took a deep breath.  One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten....
"Alice," Chris said softly, "You okay?"
Alice opened her eyes and nodded, "You better wash your hands."
A scenario using two characters from my story. Alice has OCD and her friend Chris tries to help her.
In this scenario Chris is 15 and Alice is in 16, unlike in some of the others where they're younger. But in most of CWAK, they're in their teens.
